The Little Sparta Trustees: Magnus Linklater, Ian Appleton, Victoria Miro, Professor Stephen Bann, Professor Stephen Blackmore, Duncan Macmillan, John Leighton, Susan Daniel McElroy, Ann Uppington, Jessie Sheeler, Ian Kennedy, Patrick Eyres and Richard Ingleby.

Ian Hamilton Finlay has generously given ownership of the garden and its contents to the trust and its objectives now are to maintain the garden to the high standard the artist has set, and to secure the long-term future of the garden and its treasures.

It has launched a fund-raising strategy in two stages -

To build up a Maintenance Fund of £1million, with contributions from friends, supporters and organisations sympathetic to the artist’s work.

To establish an Endowment Fund which will secure the long-term future of the garden.

All contributions are welcomed with gratitude.

How you can help:

  • Become a Friend: for an annual subscription of £50 you will be entitled to unlimited admission to the garden during the season for yourself and one guest. You will also receive updates about the garden’s development and about exhibitions of Ian Hamilton Finlay’s work.
  • Become a Patron: for a single payment of £1000 you will become a lifetime Patron of Little Sparta. This entitles you to all the benefits associated with being a Friend. You will also have privileged access to the garden, by special arrangement, and will receive a limited edition print by Ian Hamilton Finlay in recognition of your generosity.
